Does anyone have the LOCKS, SAFES, & SECURITY book by Marc Tobias. Just wondering if this would be a good investment for the institutional locksmith.
Thanks. _________________ Chad Diemel, RL, CIL |

Here's a review I did for the Spring '03 Key Issues.
It’s big (over 1400 pages). It’s heavy. It’s fun to read. And it’s informative, too. I’m referring to a new book entitled Locks, Safes, and Security: An International Police Reference by Marc Weber Tobias, J.D. (As in, Juris Doctor—he’s a lawyer.) Even though it was written for members of the law enforcement community, its information is certainly is helpful to locksmiths.
Many subjects are covered in detail with a plethora of pictures, line drawings and cut-away views of all sorts of locks.
At $200, it isn’t a must-have book for institutional locksmiths (unless you do investigative locksmith work as well). But it will make a great addition to any locksmith’s reference library. (Keep it out at parties. It ‘s a splendid conversation piece.) Buy it at amazon.com or at www.security.org. _________________ Vernon Kelley, CMIL, CPL |
